Plane plot suspect escapes in Pakistan (AP)

AP - A British suspect in an alleged plot to blow up trans-Atlantic jetliners escaped from police custody in Pakistan on Saturday, officials said. Rashid Rauf fled after appearing before a judge at a court in the capital, Islamabad, said Khalid Pervez, a city police official.

Laura Archera Huxley, the widow of "Brave New World" author Aldous Huxley, who worked to preserve his legacy for nearly half a century after his death while authoring her own books, has died. She was 96.

Indiana Congresswoman Julia Carson Dies at Age 69

Rep. Julia Carson (D-Ind.), the first African-American and the first woman to represent Indianapolis, died of lung cancer Saturday. Carson was an outspoken opponent of the war in Iraq. She was also a champion of children's issues, women's rights, and efforts to reduce homelessness.

Former Queensland administrator Clem Jones dies

Queensland Cricket is mourning the death of Clem Jones, the former Gabba groundsman and state life member, who passed away on Saturday aged 89. Jones, who was also a Brisbane lord mayor, was a long-time player, administrator and supporter of the game.

Teen drowned in Oak Brook pond, coroner says

A teenager who spent more than 90 minutes last week in an icy pond in an Oak Brook subdivision drowned, the DuPage County coroner's office said Monday.
